Thrombectomy Stroke Therapy.
This therapy is a treatment for stroke through the action of catheterization of blood vessels (endovascular mechanical thrombectomy). This thrombectomy procedure can remove blood clots from blocked blood vessels of the brain so that blood flow becomes smooth again. Thrombectomy is performed in the catheterization room (cath lab) with the patient in conscious condition or sufficiently with local anesthesia. Generally, the treatment of stroke takes 60-90 minutes. Thrombectomy should be done as soon as someone has symptoms of a stroke because this action will be less effective when a stroke has passed for 8-12 hours.
Thrombectomy has many advantages over other acute stroke treatment options, such as thrombolysis (blood thinning infusion medication). Besides being more effective, the action of thrombectomy also does not require high-dose blood thinning drugs so it is safer from the risk of bleeding.
